Educators as StoryKeepers: Capturing Our History-Making Journey with Education Technology

NECC 2009 in Washington, D.C., will mark 30 years of ISTE and ed tech history. Join ISTE and our new Digital Storytelling SIG for this FREE webinar that will introduce you to basic digital storytelling concepts and how you can become a part of ISTE’s current storytelling project. The webinar will discuss how this project aims to collect the many stories of successes, challenges, lessons learned and celebrations of education technology making a difference for our kids. Attendees will explore local, national, and global benefits of gathering these stories; learn the difference between digital stories and storytelling; find resources, ideas, and strategies for getting started; and reflect on some examples of exemplary storytelling that leaves an enduring impact on viewers of all ages.

Urgency! Become a storyteller today! Data by itself does not tell the whole story! We need to celebrate ISTE's Thirty Years but also urgently use this opportunity to participate in developing a collective "storyfield" of influence to impact decision makers and leadership across our country. By capturing and pooling our stories of how technology resources, imagination and efforts has touched kids lives, the cumulative impact of learning not possible without the investments can be felt and heard. In these times of economic challenges, decision makers are scouting for expenditures that are expendable as critical budget cuts are developed. It is urgent to capture the understanding that funding is not about the technical stuff or the adult points of view but an investment in real, personall stories that continue to touch the lives of our kids and their futures. Let the stories begin . . . .
